What is North Way Arts?

North Way Arts is a Music Lesson Program which provides quality instruction in the field of the arts, specifically music. We want to provide an outlet within the church for the development of musicians and worshippers through music.

Location

Currently, lessons are only available at the North Way Wexford Campus. Enter the building through the front doors under the portico. Your studio is located upstairs in the tech suite, take the stairs to the right of the sanctuary. Parents may sit in on lessons or wait in the lobby/atrium. If you must miss a lesson, notify your teacher personally rather than calling the church office.

Price

$26 per 30 min. lesson.

Instruction

North Way Arts currently offers private lessons in a variety of instruments and voice. If you don't see the instrument you are interested in available please email arts@northway.org to express your interest. If we get enough interest in a particular instrument we will provide an instructor and setup up lessons.

Security and Safety

Our teachers have Child Abuse Verification Clearances and background checks. Security cameras are installed in our teaching rooms for safety/security.

Cancellation/Makeup Policy

Whenever a teacher misses a lesson for any reason, the lesson will be made up at a time that is mutually agreed upon. If a student must miss a lesson, at least 24-hour notice is required unless the student becomes ill on the day of the lesson or there is a family emergency, in which case the earliest notice possible is requested. Notify the teacher directly in the event of a student’s need to miss rather than calling the church office. Each student is due ONE make-up lesson every three months for EXCUSED absences, regardless of how many times the student must miss; unexcused absences will not be made up and include forgetting lessons altogether or failing to notify the teacher until the day of the lesson about absences not related to illness or emergency. If you have questions or concerns about this program-wide policy, please email arts@northway.org and we will be happy to address your concerns.

Inclement Weather Policy

North Way Arts follows the inclement weather school closure policies of North Allegheny School District

Piano - Rick Gallagher

Jazz pianist/composer Rick Gallagher has been a part of the Pittsburgh music scene since the late 1980's. Over the years Rick has done solo and group work in a wide range of contemporary styles but has found a voice as a player and composer in classic jazz. He has worked with many of the region’s top jazz musicians, singers and bands ranging from the Boilermaker Jazz Band to the Orchard Hill Church Worship Team, and has done solo piano work at such diverse venues such as the historic Grand Concourse; the Gandy Dancer Saloon piano bar; and the PPG Holiday Series. Currently Rick can be seen regularly at the critically acclaimed Pines Tavern restaurant, as well as his long-standing spotlight as the pianist with the US Steel Tower and One Oxford Center downtown. Gallagher is noteworthy for his classic jazz style, creative arrangements, memorable originals, and his soulful organic sound. Rick has eight recordings and his music has been enjoyed on radio stations worldwide.
